Why I Love the Hyatt Points System
Hyatt points go further than most. Whether I’m booking a luxury stay or a quick overnight, I consistently get great value. We even booked our upcoming trip to Prague entirely on Hyatt points!

How to Earn More Hyatt Points (Even Without the Card)

You don’t need the Hyatt card to start earning. Hyatt is a transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards, which means you can move points from cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve directly into your Hyatt account.

Sign up for a free World of Hyatt membership.
Link your Chase Ultimate Rewards account.
Transfer points when you’re ready to book.
I use this strategy all the time to top off my Hyatt balance and stretch our travel budget even further.
Hyatt Card Perks I Actually Use
One of my favorite perks? Automatic Discoverist status. It’s the entry-level tier in Hyatt’s loyalty program, but it comes with real benefits—like 2 p.m. late checkout, which has saved us more than once.
Miami Example: We had a late flight out of Miami after staying at the Hyatt Centric South Beach. Thanks to Discoverist status, we explored the city all morning, returned to the hotel to grab our bags, and headed to the airport stress-free—while others were dragging luggage around town.
Colorado Example: On our current ski trip at Hyatt Place Keystone, we were approved for late checkout so we can ski until 1 p.m., then head back to Denver for our flight. It’s a small perk that makes a huge difference.
