Our family loves to ski. Thanks to points and miles, we saved significantly on our recent ski trip to Keystone, Colorado. You can read about how we saved on flights, hotels, and lift tickets here. We stayed at the Hyatt Place Keystone. When my boys were younger, we would use points and miles to stay here for free. However, now that I am rooming with 3 men, I pay for our room so we can have the suite. I checked frequently and never saw the suite available on points.

Staying at Hyatt Place Keystone with a Family

This was our 5th time at Keystone. We like that it is a short, easy drive from Denver. As a family of four, we like how affordable the food and ski rentals are compared to other places we have skied.

Hyatt Place Keystone

The Hyatt Place is about 5 - 10 minutes from the lifts. You go out the back door and take the path over a creek to get to the resort. It’s a pretty walk. I always enjoy this quick walk to the lifts. Even though I hate walking in ski boots and carrying all my gear, the scenery makes it better!

Affordable Ski Rentals and Dining Near the Resort

Our favorite place to rent skis is next door to the Hyatt Place, Snowdance Sports Ski Rental. We rented skis for our entire family for 4 days for around $500. Not only are they super affordable, but they are extremely nice.

Not only they the most affordable place to rents skis. They are so nice!

Not only are ski rentals cheaper here but the food is also way more affordable than places like Beaver Creek. Don’t get me wrong, I love Beaver Creek, but even getting free rooms on points, we were spending way more on the trip, thanks to how much extra everything costs there.

The pizza place beside the ski rental place is good. It is very popular. I called one night for take out at 5 pm and it was already an hour wait for pizza. To feed our family for around $50 is worth the wait.

We get pizza here at least once a trip!

There are other cute places near the Hyatt Place. We like to park the car when we arrive and do not need it again until we leave. The Haywood Cafe is good and within walking distance. They are only open until 1:30. Steep Brewing is in the same shopping mall. Their food is affordable, and the beer is good. They also have good coffee. There is also a little convenience store in the same shopping plaza. We visited frequently to pick up sodas, bottled water, etc. They also have a small liquor store inside the store.

Walkable Access to Keystone Lifts

It’s also a fairly easy walk to River Run village. We headed over there one day when we finished skiing early. We have stayed in River Run Village before and like the location. If you end up there, we like to get crepes or cookies from the crepe stand or the cookie shop.

Using Points and Miles for a Budget-Friendly Ski Trip

Thanks to our discoverist status with Hyatt. We were given a late checkout our last day of skiing. That gave the family a chance to get a few more runs in before we headed back to Denver. It is great benefit that I get from having the Chase Hyatt Card.
