Hassle-Free Southampton Transfers for All

Southampton Transfers to/from London

We recently cruised from Southampton for the first time. I was traveling with my parents in their mid-70s, and my 17-year-old son. I explored taking the train, a bus, or even a taxi/Uber to Southampton, but ultimately decided on private transfers.

Transfer to Southampton from Heathrow

I ultimately decided to book our transfers through Viator. I use them often to book excursions when I travel, but this was the first time I had used them for transfers. I was able to read reviews before I booked. I also like that they don’t require payment until closer to my trip. For our arrival in Southampton, I booked our transfer with Southern Cruise Ports Small-Group Transfer with London Pickup. However, weather delays in the States caused us not to make our original flight to London.

I contacted the company immediately with my new flight information to see if they could pick us up from Heathrow instead. Thankfully, they made this happen. Our driver was waiting for us exactly where they said he would be. He was holding a sign with my name on it. I appreciate them adjusting our plan. After traveling for almost 36 hours, I was thankful we had this pickup. It made life so much easier being transported directly to the cruise port. I will mention, if I had been traveling with just my son, I might have taken the train. However, carrying all our luggage and having my parents, this was a great decision on my part. Our transport costs less than $475USD for all 4 of us.

Our timeline that morning: We arrived at Heathrow at 6:30. We met our driver at 7:20. We arrived at the cruise port by 8:30. Even though our boarding pass said boarding was between 12 -3. We were able to board around 10:15. If you arrive at Southampton early, like we did, they have a waiting room with chairs that was a perfect resting spot for us.

Transport back to London

After our cruise, we spent one night in London before returning home. Again, I decided to book a transfer through Viator, Southampton Port Transfer to/from London Airports and City. For the four us, the transfer was right at $469. We had planned to be picked up at 8 am this morning. However, with five cruise ships in port this morning, traffic was crazy. Our driver ended up being 15 minutes late. However, the company called me to give me an update. Then our driver sent a text letting us know he would be there soon. I know timing on these things is hard to do. I was very impressed with how the company communicated with us. I didn’t stress about being forgotten. Our driver back to London was extremely nice. The ride back to the hotel ended up being close to 2 1/2 hours. It was nice having a private ride back to London.

Princess Letter

I will add that Princess Cruises had a letter in our room with a price sheet for returning to London. I did not verify these numbers.

Conclusion

I would recommend both of the companies we used for our transfers. We could have saved so many going with different transportation but the convenience these two services offered us made it a good investment.
