Your Essential Guide to a Quebec City Itinerary
Our 3-day Quebec City Itinerary
My son Finn and I are traveling to Quebec City this week. Thanks to points and miles, I can travel the world with my family. Sometimes it’s nice to get away with each son alone. Finn loves history and architecture. We only had a few days available before classes start back at his University. Quebec City had been on my mind for a while. I thought it would give us the old world European charm without jet lag. Finn quickly agreed to my destination choice, and I got to work. This is what we have planned for our 3 days in Quebec City.
Flights
Finn and I are flying American Airlines to Quebec City. I used American Airlines miles for our flights. It was 30,000 points round-trip for both of us. It is not a direct flight from Nashville. However, we can fly to many places in Canada non-stop. We have a layover at Chicago O’Hare each way.
Hotel
We are staying at Hotel Pur Quebec City. When I originally booked this trip, I booked directly with Marriott. However, the price dropped on our room, and I decided to change our reservation to the Capital One portal. I will not get Marriott points on this stay; instead, I got 10X per dollar on Capital One. I thought my credit was ready to get $300 off through my Capital One Venture X, but it didn’t renew until a few weeks later. However, I am still satisfied with over 6,000 Capital One points on our $600 hotel reservation. I am only Gold with Marriott, so I am not missing any awesome perks by booking this room through a 3rd party. (a 3rd party is when you book when anyone other than the hotel itself.)
Itinerary
Day 1
Finn and I enjoy walking in a city. We arrive mid-afternoon on our first day. We plan on taking a taxi to the hotel, dropping off our bags, and exploring the city on foot.
Day 2
On our 2nd day, I booked us the Old Quebec City Walking Tour with Funicular ticket through Viator. This is what Viator said about the tour we chose:
Wander the historic streets of Old Quebec, and learn about the rich culture and heritage of this special city with your guide who will point out the architecture and design of the buildings you pass by. See the Notre-Dame de Québec Basilica-Cathedral and the city fortifications, and explore the Quartier Petit Champlain. Take the Funicular train to Lower Town, and enjoy the view as you travel down the steep hillside.
Tickets to the Funicular are included
See the sites of Lower Town and Upper Town, all in one all-encompassing tour
A great way to explore the history of Quebec
Small group tour—no more than 12 people will be taking part
Day 3
