Uncover the Charming Countryside of Quebec City Bus Tour

Countryside Quebec City Bus Tour

On our recent trip to Quebec City, we decided to venture out of the city and visit the countryside. I found a tour on Viator that had several stops on it that caught my eye. This 4.5-hour tour had 4 stops, including a chocolate shop, a copper museum, a visit to a church, and a waterfall.

Our tour met near the Château Frontenac. We boarded a big bus and headed out of the city. Our tour guide/driver not only drove us around Quebec all afternoon. He did the tour in English and French. Talk about multi-tasking. He did an incredible job, and I was impressed with his stories and driving. He told us he had been doing this job for 35 years, and let me tell you, he had this down. I learned so much about the area and was entertained the whole way.

Stop One

Our first stop was a chocolate shop on the island of Orleans. At first, I thought this stop was unnecessary. It was a hot day in Quebec, and the line was out the door. We only had 25 minutes there. However, after we stopped to get our yummy chocolate, we drove around the Island. I got why we went over here. The island of Orleans is beautiful. I am so glad we took the time to visit. I would love to go back with a car and visit the wineries and strawberry fields. They even have cheese stores. Everything I love is on one adorable island.

Stop Two

Our second stop was a copper museum. When I saw this on the itinerary, I thought ok but it was a fantastic stop. The Albert Giles Copper Art Museum is run by 5 of his family, including his wife. Mr. Giles passed away in 1979, but his family has kept his legacy alive. We were given a tour by his daughter, Palmyre Gilles. We were able to see some of his amazing work at our next stop. After learning more about the art of repoussé, I was even more impressed by what we saw at the Sainte Anne du Beaupré. We were able to see the 4 sets of copper doors there. These are amazing works of art. That these were crafted by hand is mind-blowing.

Stop 3

Our 3rd stop was at the Sainte Anne du Beaupré. Even though I am not religious, I love visiting old churches. This church was amazing. From the Copper doors to the ornate ceilings. They were doing an English speaking mass when we visited, so I took a few pics and left.

Walk to the back of the room on the left and there is a replica of the La Pieta sculpture in St. Peter’s Basilica.

Stop 4

Our final stop was Montmorency Falls. We were given about 45 minutes at the falls. This was enough time to choose one of the two paths to the falls and walk at a leisurely pace. You can take a cable car to the top and walk across the pedestrian bridge above the falls. Or climb the 487 stops to the top from the walkway on the right side. Montmorency Falls was a great finale to our tour. My son and I enjoyed walking down to the falls, and on this hot da,y the mist of the falls felt amazing.

Conclusion

This was an excellent way to explore the Countryside of Quebec City. It was much more organized and enjoyable than my recent tour of Niagara Falls. I highly recommend this tour to anyone in Quebec City for a few days. We both enjoyed it.
