🌦️ The Key to Packing for a Canada Cruise: Layers + Flexibility
Canada surprised me — and that’s saying something considering we did Norway andAlaska last summer.
This itinerary had the most diverse weather yet. I wore jeans, hoodies, shorts, long sleeves, and short sleeves… sometimes all in the same day.
The secret? Pack for flexibility, not perfection. Think: mix‑and‑match layers you can add or peel off as the weather changes.
🧳 Our Luggage Setup
We kept things simple and efficient:
My Away Carry‑On— durable, compact, and perfect for cruise travel.
Tanner and I each carried our Samsonite Mother Lode Junior — lightweight and easy to store under the bed in our interior cabin.
This combo made embarkation and disembarkation a breeze. I will say Tanner loved pushing my Away Carry-On around the airport. He has never volunteered to push my bag around the airport before with other bags, but he basically took ownership of this bag with all my belongings this trip.
👚 What I Actually Wore (and Loved)
Here’s what earned a spot in my suitcase — and actually got used:
Democracy jeans— my holy grail for a middle‑aged, 5'1" body. Stretchy, flattering, and perfect for long port days.
Lightweight hoodies + long‑sleeve tees for chilly mornings.
Short‑sleeve tops + shorts for warmer afternoons.
A rain jacket — non‑negotiable for coastal weather.
Everything mixed and matched easily, which kept packing light and stress‑free.
🧖♀️ Spa Essentials
Enjoying the spa
I hit the spa every single day — and if you’re cruising up north, I highly recommend it.
I rotated three bathing suits, which made it easy to enjoy the thermal suite without worrying about drying time.
Shop Bleu Rod Beattie— flattering fits made for real women’s bodies.
