If you’re looking for an easy and unforgettable day trip from Las Vegas, Valley of Fire State Park should be at the top of your list. Just an hour from the Strip, this park is packed with bright red sandstone formations, ancient petroglyphs, short family‑friendly hikes, and some of the most unique landscapes in Nevada. Whether you’re visiting with kids, exploring the Southwest for the first time, or just want a break from the casinos, Valley of Fire is absolutely worth the trip. 🚗 How to Get to Valley of Fire from Las Vegas

Valley of Fire is about 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas, and the drive is incredibly easy. You’ll take I‑15 North and exit onto Valley of Fire Highway, which leads straight into the park.

🌤️ Best Time to Visit Valley of Fire

The best time to visit Valley of Fire is October through April, when temperatures are cooler and hiking is comfortable. Spring and fall offer the best weather, with highs between 55–85°F. Our family visited in December and we still needed lots of water and Chapstick.

Summer warning: Temperatures can soar above 100°F, and many trails have little shade. If you visit in summer, go early and bring more water than you think you need.

A loop trail with slot canyons, movie set remnants, and incredible views.

An easy walk with petroglyphs along the canyon walls.
