As a frequent guest of Princess Cruises, I love sharing my tips and tricks about their cruises. One of the things that really adds to your Princess Cruise experience is the Medallion Technology. This is used instead of a card to do everything on your ship. When you arrive at your room. The Princess Cruises medallion unlocks your door as you approach. Want to order a drink? You can tap your medallion or use the app and have it delivered!

What is MedallionTechnology
First things first, to take advantage of the Medalion Class technology, you need to download the Princess app to your mobile device. Getting ready to board the ship is called getting Ocean Ready. If you finish the steps on the app to be Ocean Ready, you can order your medallion to be sent to your home before your cruise. This allows you to board using the Green Lane. However, never fear, if you don’t get your medallions in the mail pre-cruise, you can pick them up at the port. This is not a big deal at all. I stopped ordering the medallions pre-cruise because it was one more thing I had to keep up with packing.
If you do get your medallion pre-cruise sent to your home. You should wear it to check in to expedite your check-in. So keep it with your passport or other travel documents. You will need it for boarding.
When can you get Ocean Ready?
45 days prior to your cruise, you need to get together the following:

Download the medallion app on your mobile device

Faster to the fun! If you have everything done before you board, you will be enjoying the ship faster!
Ocean Now Delivery - One of my favorite benefits. Instead of standing in line each morning for my specialty coffee. I grab a table and order my coffee through the app. It is then delivered to where I am on the ship. I also enjoy ordering my latte to my room to start my day. Even if I don’t pay for a package, I usually pay the $14.95 fee to use Ocean Now for the whole cruise
Locate shipmates - I love that I can map to my shipmates using Ocean Now. Don’t worry, you can turn it off if you need to hide from someone!
Casino - As a casino cruiser. I use my medallion to tap and play in the Casino. I charge it to my room super easily!

We used Ocean Now delivery for coffee, hot chocolate and lunch delivery so we didn’t miss a thing!
When are you Ocean Ready?
Upload travel documents such as a passport
Take a security picture with your mobile device.
Confirm the port delivery or shipping address if you want the medallion shipped
The Medallion
When you receive your medallion, it comes on a white princess lanyard. You can see it in my picture above at Glacier Bay. However, you can buy accessories for your medallion. Amazon has some accessories for the Medallion. You can check out the ones I like here:
