Grand Hyatt Athens Review - Our Suite with Private Pool

Why We Chose Grand Hyatt Athens

If you’re heading to Greece and wondering whether the Grand Hyatt Athens is worth it, this review breaks down our full experience — including the private pool suite, rooftop pools with Acropolis views, dining, location, and what to know before you book. We stayed here before our cruise, and it ended up being the perfect mix of comfort, convenience, and a little bit of luxury after a long travel day.

Grand Hyatt at a Glance

After an amazing food tour in Athens, we headed back to the hotel to check into our room. The front desk informed us we had been upgraded to a suite with a private pool! Holy Smokes! I didn’t even know to dream this big. There are two suites like this at the hotel, and OMG! It was so nice. The room was huge with a nice sitting area and a huge King bed! This was fantastic after our cruise with 2 twins pushed together!

King Bed

A huge bathroom with a walk-in shower and tub. The Shower head was the waterfall type and felt amazing!

🌸If you’re looking for a versatile cruise dress that works for hot ports, sea days, and everything in between, this Athleta dress is the one I always pack. It’s comfortable, breathable, and easy to style.

Our Suite with a Private Pool

Last but not least, a private pool! This was so amazing to get into after walking all over Athens that day. Seriously, I am still giddy thinking about it.

This suite sells out fast, especially in summer and cruise season. Check availability here:

If you don’t end up with the suite with a private pool there are lots of water options at this hotel. Below is the ground level pool and you can see lots of balconies have tubs on them.

Rooftop Pools and Acropolis Views

There are two pools on the roof. One for adults and there is an infinity pool! Both with views of the Acropolis! Talk about a wonderful place to spend the day!

Dining at the Grand Hyatt Athens

We enjoyed a fantastic meal at the rooftop restaurant. Amazing food and view. A fantastic way to end our amazing trip. The pasta was made fresh, and they recommended an amazing bottle of Greek wine to pair with our dinner.

Location and Getting Around

We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hyatt Athens. We are big walkers and enjoyed the walk from the hotel to the Acropolis. I know not everyone enjoys walking as much as I do; you might prefer to get a taxi. In Athens, you can use the Uber app to get a taxi. We used this method to get a taxi to head to the airport on our last day!

Is the Grand Hyatt Athens Good Before a Cruise?

Absolutely — and here’s why:

  • 30–40 minutes to Piraeus Cruise Port

  • Easy taxi/Uber availability

  • Rooftop pools for a pre‑cruise reset

  • Tons of space for families
