Virgin Voyages Restaurants - All Your Options
Virgin Voyages Restaurants
Virgin Voyages does dining differently than other cruise lines. All their restaurants are included in your cruise fare. Not only that, but these are amazing places to eat! This is not your typical cruise food. This includes fresh ingredients and made-to-order entrees. For most meals, you sit with just your party. The only exception to this would be Gunbae. The four Virgin Ships are very similar, so most of these restaurants are on each ship.
Reservations
This is important! Reservations for Virgin Voyages Restaurants open up for rockstars up to 60 days before your cruise and 45 days for other bookings. Reservations usually go live at midnight Eastern Time. So, at 11 pm Central, 45 days out, I set an alarm to make my reservations.
**Julie Tip- Don’t freak out if you forget or don’t get everything you want. They hold back reservations for when you board the ship. The first time I sailed with Virgin, we booked 6 days before we sailed, so we had no reservations when we boarded the ship. Once we got to our room and were on the wifi. I was able to get everything I wanted. You can also go to Razzle Dazzle, and they will help you, but I was able to do it myself.
The Main Event - The Restaurants
Virgin Voyages has six restaurants for you to try: The Wake, Razzle Dazzle, Test Kitchen, Extra Virgin, Gunbae, and Pink Agave. Lucky for you! I have tried them all! When I traveled with my 18-year-old son last year, he enjoyed the food on Virgin so much he couldn’t eat for 24 hours after our cruise.
The Wake
Let’s start with my husband and son’s favorite, the Wake. The Wake is the ship’s steakhouse. It is a fine dining experience. Both Brandon and Finn said this was their favorite place to dine. The restaurant is gorgeous with a panoramic view of the sea from the back of the dining room. The food is incredible. I have eaten here 3 times for dinner, and all were fantastic meals.
They do have a few things on the menu that you pay extra for. I love raw oysters, so I have splurged thanks to the sailor loot I received for my booking.
Raw Oysters
I did pay extra for this thanks to my sailor loot!
Here is the filet with the twice-baked potatoes with caramelized onions. My sister said she rarely eats potatoes, but when we dined together, mine disappeared while I was talking with a new friend. They are yummy! It’s crazy that you can eat like this on a cruise and that it is included in your cruise fare! I recommend you get the clam chowder. I love the presentation. Plus, it is really good. It will be hard, but try to save room for dessert. They are all good!
Filet Mignon at the Wake
Be sure to add the twice baked potatoes to your order
Razzle Dazzle
I have never dined at Razzle Dazzle for dinner, but I love to eat there for breakfast and brunch. I have heard they have a secret menu at dinner. I asked about it at brunch, but they said it was only available at dinner. My son Finn and I ate here for brunch on our cruise, and we both enjoyed Chicken and Waffles. They also have good bacon. One of my favorites is the Acai Bowl.
Razzle Dazzle - Acai Bowl
Definitely one of my favorite things to order at Razzle Dazzle. I also love their Avo toast.
Test Kitchen
The Test Kitchen is an innovative restaurant on Virgin Voyages. It is definitely for the more adventurous eater. However, I would encourage everyone to try it. Worst case scenario, you go to the galley or the pizza place afterwards! My full review of Test Kitchen the last time I sailed on Virgin Voyages, is here. Here are the highlights. The menu is set. There are usually two options for each. One for meat eaters and one for vegetarians. They have three different menus that they rotate. I have done two of the three. The one I did the full review of is my favorite; however, I enjoyed both.
Test Kitchen Menu B
This is the Shrimp Dish - the pasta was even made from shrimp.
Extra Virgin
Extra Virgin is the Italian restaurant on Virgin Voyages. If you like fresh pasta and wine, this is the place for you! Everyone I have taken there has loved it. My sister and I had a fun meal there when we sailed on the Valiant Lady in May of 2024. Our server was incredible and encouraged us to try 1/2 portions of many of the pasta dishes. We tried 5! We had so much yummy pasta! We paired this with a nice red wine, and we had an amazing experience. However much pasta you eat. I highly recommend you try the affagato. It is made tableside, and it is a fun experience. A friend recommended I get the whiskey ice cream, espresso, and chocolate chips. I have ordered it every time.
This is a must for me!
Gunbae
Gunbae is an interactive meal where your meal is cooked by your server at the table in front of you. My family is full of introverts. I told my son we could cancel our reservations, but he said the food sounded so good, he would sit with others. I went through all my travel photos, and I don’t have a single picture from any of my meals at Gunbae! I have never met a stranger, so I guess I was too busy yapping! I recommend the Korean Chicken. The meal starts with a fun little game. I have played 3 x’s and still cannot win! The food is served family-style, and you pass around a huge plate. I made sure to tell my son not to take all the meat! I would make sure he was full! Finn said he enjoyed this meal even though he had to talk to people. It is the one restaurant I did not take my husband to on our last cruise. I plan to book this for sure on our upcoming 6-day cruise.
Last but not least, Pink Agave
On my first Virgin Voyage, our last meal was Pink Agave. I was not feeling it. I debated cancelling it. I am so glad we did not! It was amazing! When we sat down, the table beside us had finished their meal. They loved it so much, they told us exactly what to order and we did!
I have ordered the same thing the last 4 times. I have shared this order with those sitting around me (if asked). It is probably my favorite place to dine on Virgin Voyages, and to think I almost missed it entirely!
What I order at Pink Agave
Small Plates - Corn
Medium Plates - Enchiladas
Large Plates - Ribeye steak and the Smoked Pork (both are good)
Dessert - Chocolate Tacos
