Make the Most of Your Grand Turk Port Visit

As a frequent Caribbean cruiser, I love it when I book a cruise that includes a stop in Grand Turk. It is one of my favorite ports in the Caribbean. The water is stunning, and you have a great beach right beside where the cruise ship docks. I love that I can walk off the cruise ship, turn right after I get off the pier, and be on the beach in minutes! I also love that they have free chairs! Yes! You read this right! The first time I went, I didn’t notice the free chairs and just threw my stuff on the beach and headed to the water. I saw the signs at the end of the trip and thought I needed a better plan.

New PLAN

To save you time and money, I took pictures of landmarks to help you find the free chairs! The first time I went before I threw my stuff on my beach. I was harassed by locals trying to sell me chairs. You can buy chairs, but why spend the money when Margaritaville has them for free on the sand!

Directions with Pictures

When you exit the duty-free shop after departing the ship, turn left. You will see a Starbucks.

Starbuck - Grand Turk

I turn left after passing the Starbucks, and you will walk by some local stores. You will see Margaritaville on your right. I walk in through the gift shop and turn left toward the restaurant, and walk through. You might feel you are going to the restaurant, but there is a path that takes you right through. Just keep walking!

When I get to the free showers, I turn left. Voila! There are free beachside chairs for you to use!

Showers!

They are even marked free chairs!

You can get to the free chairs in different ways, but this is the least stressful way. When I walk on the beach, I will run into people wanting me to rent their beach chairs. I understand they are making a living, but I hate being pestered, so this way prevented all of this!

Must have’s Grand Turk

My favorite thing to do is to hang out in the water in Grand Turk. To enjoy the beaches here, I recommend the following items. I pack them on every trip.

Water shoes. There are lots of rocks in the water here, and they didn’t bother me with these shoes:

I also recommend this float. I carry it on all my cruises, and people also ask me where I got it! It’s the number one thing I get asked about when I cruise. You will not regret that you brought this. It takes up a tiny space in my travel bag, and I can blow it up super fast when I get to the beach.
