Hotel Review: Our Stay at Hyatt Place Rouen France

We stayed at the Hyatt Place Rouen as part of our Normandy family vacation booked on points, and it delivered exactly what we needed: comfort, convenience, and value. Rouen was a charming medieval city in France.

Hyatt Place Rouen France

Location:

The hotel is located about a 15-minute walk uphill from the Rouen train station, which can feel long after a day of sightseeing — especially with kids or luggage. While it’s not in the historic city center, it’s close enough to walk or take a short cab ride to Rouen’s main attractions like the Joan of Arc Church, Gros Horloge, and the cathedral. Our family enjoyed the walk to the hotel, but I know not everyone enjoys walking as much as I do. We only had travel backpacks for this trip. That made the maneuvering around the city very easy.

Rooms & Amenities:

Our rooms were clean, quiet, and well-designed with modern furnishings and comfy bedding. The layout felt spacious, and we appreciated the high ceilings and natural light. The hotel offers a small spa area, but it requires advance booking and comes with an hourly charge. There’s also a rooftop terrace with panoramic views over Rouen — a lovely spot to unwind in the evening.

Dining

Breakfast was an extra charge. We paid $39 euros for 2. it was a very nice spread. We ended up eating breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Everything was good. We enjoyed all our meals.

Value on Points:

We booked our stay using 5,000 Hyatt points per night, which felt like a steal for a clean, modern hotel in Normandy. It’s a great redemption if you’re looking to stretch your points while exploring the region.

Tips for Travelers:

  • If you're arriving by train, be prepared for the uphill walk or grab a taxi.

  • Book the spa in advance if you plan to use it.

  • The hotel is better suited for travelers with a car or those comfortable walking.

Final Thoughts

Hyatt Place Rouen is a smart choice for points travelers visiting Normandy. It’s clean, quiet, and well-run — and the 5,000-point redemption makes it a budget-friendly base for exploring Rouen, Caen, and beyond.
