✈️ Travel Hacker of the Month (October 2026): Meet Amy Edgar

Amy Edgar

Every month, I spotlight a traveler in our community who’s using points, miles, and simple strategies to make travel easier, cheaper, and more fun. This month’s feature is extra special because I’ve actually been following Amy for a while — long before choosing her for October.

I first found Amy through my Travel Hacking Moms Group, and I make it a point to follow everyone in there who creates content. It’s my favorite way to cheer on this community and stay inspired. But Amy’s travel style immediately resonated with me. She’s flexible, curious, and always planning something fun — the kind of traveler whose updates you genuinely look forward to.

This summer she visited Glacier and Yellowstone, two of my personal favorite national parks, and every time she posted, I found myself smiling and thinking, “Okay, where is she going next?” Amy has that rare mix of adventure, practicality, and joy that makes her such a perfect Travel Hacker of the Month.

💛 A Note About Amy (and Why I Love Supporting Her)

Amy isn’t just a smart traveler — she’s also a travel advisor who plans some truly amazing trips. One of my favorite parts of running this community is highlighting people who show up, share their wins, and help others travel smarter. Amy does all of that and more. If you want to follow her adventures or work with her, you can find her here on Facebook. I love promoting the incredible humans in this community, and Amy is exactly the kind of traveler who makes our space better.

👋 Who Amy Travels With

Amy is an easy traveler — truly. She’ll travel with anyone, and she means it. Most of her trips are with family and friends, but she’s equally comfortable in a group or heading out solo.

“Everyone should travel solo once in their lives if they can.”

💳 How Amy First Got Into Points

Amy’s points journey started with the classic Southwest credit card, which helped her family take one big trip a year. But she quickly realized there was a whole world beyond that.

“I thought there has to be something better out there. And now there is soooo much more.”

Today, she focuses on loyalty to a few hotel and airline brands, building status and earning rewards faster. It’s simple, strategic, and incredibly effective.

If you’re building your own strategy:

🌴 Her Favorite Trip Booked With Points

Amy’s standout redemption: A winter family trip to Aruba — booked entirely on points.

Winter flights were sky‑high, but points saved her family $6,000. This is the kind of redemption that makes you fall in love with points all over again.

🧼 Her Travel Hack: The Two Toiletry Bags

This is peak Lazy Girl efficiency — and honestly brilliant.

Amy keeps two fully stocked toiletry bags:

  • one for short weekend trips

  • one for longer travel

She never unpacks them. She simply restocks when she gets home.

“If anything needs to be restocked, I add it to my notes and restock once home.”

⚠️ A Mistake She Made Early On

Amy learned quickly that the lowest price isn’t always the best deal.

“You definitely always have to look at the overall package.”

This is such an important lesson — especially with flights, hotels, and “too good to be true” deals.

Her Next Trip

In May, Amy is heading to Italy to celebrate her daughter’s high school graduation — a dream trip and such a special milestone.

💛 How I Choose Travel Hackers of the Month

I get asked all the time how I choose each month’s feature, and the truth is… it’s simple. I choose real people from our community who show up, share their wins, ask questions, and cheer others on. I first found Amy because she was active in my Travel Hacking Moms Group, and I try to follow everyone in there who creates content. It’s my favorite way to encourage people who are learning, experimenting, and celebrating their travel wins — big or small.

And here’s the thing: I’m not looking for the “best” travel hacker. I’m not looking for someone with 20 cards or a spreadsheet that looks like NASA built it. I’m looking for real travelers doing simple redemptions that make their travel dreams come true. No redemption is too small. A free night, a discounted flight, a clever stack — it all counts.

I also know not everyone feels comfortable putting themselves out there publicly, so if you’d rather share privately, you can always email me at julie@nopointleftbehind.net. I love hearing your stories, and I love celebrating the wins that make travel feel possible.
