$870 saved - free flights for my parents
I recently wrote about booking the Carnival Conquest on a casino deal. You can read about that here.
When I had my cruise agent Mary (www.sunnybreezes.com book this I told her to price it for my parents. They are looking for another cruise and this might fit their needs. Sure enough, Mary found them an amazing deal and they booked immediately. After Mary booked their cruise, I started looking for free flights.
My parents have a few credit cards and we regularly discuss their travel goals we adjust the plan accordingly. I booked their flights for free thanks to their Southwest Rapid Reward points. They had enough in their accounts so I didn’t have to transfer any from their Chase Ultimate Rewards.
Thanks to an offer earlier this year I will have a companion pass for one of their dates. I will make my mom my companion for that flight so no points are needed. We booked her return flight on points (it’s after the expiration date of my temporary companion pass). We booked my dad’s roundtrip on points.
If we had paid cash for these points it would have been $869.92. Instead, they only have to pay the taxes of $22.40 for both tickets.
Price for 2 on Southwest for their flights
We paired a great cruise deal with free flights to make a super affordable fun week of travel for my parents. It’s one of the reasons I love this hobby so much! We still need to book them a hotel pre-cruise in Ft Lauderdale. I am seeing them this week and plan to do that then.
