Amex Platinum Fine Hotels and Resorts Credit
If you hold the American Express Platinum Card, you’ve got access to one of the most underrated travel perks out there: the $300 Fine Hotels & Resorts credit. This isn’t just a luxury upgrade—it’s a strategic tool for travel hackers who want elite benefits without elite prices. Here’s how I used it for an upcoming trip.

What Is Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts?
The $300 annual credit applies to prepaid bookings made through AmexTravel.com for hotels in the Fine Hotels & Resorts or The Hotel Collection programs. You must book through your Amex Platinum account and pay upfront. With the American Express Platinum card upgrade in 2025, you can receive this benefit twice a year.
🌍The credit used to be $200/annually. I used it earlier this year for an amazing stay at the Thompson Hotel Nashville
How I Used My Amex Platinum Credit in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is currently ripe for travel hacking—especially when it comes to credit card perks and luxury hotel benefits. We recently booked our December vacation to visit Zion National Park. We will be flying in and out of the Las Vegas airport. I booked two rooms at The Palazzo at The Venetian for one night, and thanks to my American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) credit, both of them were free. I do have to pay resort fees for each of the rooms when we arrive. It still is a fantastic deal!
What You Get with FHR
Every FHR booking includes:
✅ Room upgrade (when available)
✅ Daily breakfast for two
✅ Noon check-in (when available)
✅ Guaranteed 4pm late checkout
✅ $100 experience credit (spa, dining, or property-specific perk)
✅ Complimentary Wi-Fi
Julie’s Tip: These perks often rival elite status benefits—without needing loyalty!
Booking Two Rooms: My Strategy
I booked two rooms at The Palazzo through Amex Travel using my Platinum card and applied the $300 FHR credit. The rate was just under $300, so both rooms were covered. We booked these nights mid-week when rates are lower. The night we fly in is a weekend, so I used Hyatt points to book a free night near the airport. We will then head to Zion National Park for a few nights. Then we head back to Vegas for our free nights at the Venetian.
Final Thoughts: Stack, Save, and Travel Smarter
Don’t overlook the power of stacking deals to maximize your travel
Use your Amex Platinum FHR credit for credit
Fly to Las Vegas on Southwest Rapid Rewards
Enjoy luxury perks without paying luxury prices
Use Hyatt points to pay for the more expensive night
Vegas is full of opportunities to travel smarter. This trip was a perfect example of how a little planning can turn a quick getaway into a high-end experience—without blowing your budget. This deal was made possible thanks to my American Express Platinum Card.
