What Is a Boarding Time on Virgin Voyages?
Virgin doesn’t assign traditional boarding times. Instead, you’ll choose an arrival time in the Virgin Voyages app during online check-in. This is the time you’re allowed to enter the terminal—not necessarily the time you’ll step onto the ship.
Arrival times typically range from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM - Virgin does things differently. Your room will be ready when you board the ship. That is why the later arrival times.
You’ll usually board 30–45 minutes after your arrival time
The earlier your arrival time, the sooner you’ll be onboard
How to Get an Early Arrival Time
Virgin’s earliest arrival slots go fast—but here’s how to snag one:
Complete online check-in as soon as it opens (usually 45 days before sailing)
Use the Virgin Voyages app to select your arrival time
Check the app daily—earlier slots may open up due to cancellations
Book “Splash of Romance” or RockStar Quarters for priority boarding
Status match to Sea-Rover or higher for early access perks - I have Deep Blue Extras from a status match, so I always get a 1:30 arrival time.
What to Pack in Your Carry-On
I always recommend you carry these things with in case it takes a while for your baggage to arrive:
Passport and boarding documents
Swimsuit and sunscreen (for pool time!)
Phone charger and portable battery
Medications and valuables
Refillable water bottle
You can carry on two bottles of wine per cabin
What Happens After You Board?
Once onboard, you can:
Connect to the ship Wi-Fi
Finalize dining reservations - you have to be on the wifi to see the reservations available
Explore the ship and grab lunch - I love heading to the dock as soon as I board
Watch the muster video and complete the safety check
Start your vacation with a cocktail or poolside lounge - Don’t miss the sail away party, usually around 6
Final Tips for a Smooth Embarkation
Fly in the day before to avoid travel delays
Arrive at the port 15 minutes before your scheduled arrival time
Use the Virgin Voyages app to stay updated and manage reservations
Don’t stress about luggage—porters will deliver it to your cabin
