Discover Boston's Past: A Captivating Freedom Trail Journey

I recently traveled to Boston as a plus one on my husband’s business trip. I thought this would be a perfect time to do a walking tour of Boston. Although this was not my first time in Boston, I was excited about experiencing the city again. Since my husband was in meetings during the day, I booked a Freedom Trail Walking tour on Viator.

Tour

The tour I booked was fantastic. It was the Boston Freedom Trail Walking Tour through Viator. 7 years ago, our family did Boston together. We did lots of the Freedom Trail then. My boys were younger, and we did it at their pace. Going back and doing it this way was amazing. I love hearing the history and seeing the places where they happened. This tour provided all that and more.

I met my tour guide Nick at the Soldiers and Sailors statue in Boston Commons for a 2 and 1/2 hour tour. Boston Commons was a quick walk from my hotel, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Boston. I walked all over the city alone and felt safe. This tour flew by as we heard stories and were entertained by our guide Nick. Nick was a great storyteller, and we were all mesmerized by his passionate talks. Even the 12-year-old in the group was fully engaged the whole tour. As a former homeschool mom, it impressed me that Nick kept everyone engaged on this tour.

Our next stop was the Granary burial ground. This burial ground is where the Sons of Liberty, John Hancock, Samuel Adams and Paul Revere are laid to rest. It is also the location of the 5 victims of the Boston Massacre are remembered.

Our whole family are history lovers. We listen to a lot of podcasts. I know the story of the Boston Massacre well. However, standing where it happened and getting new details made it come alive. Again, Nick did an amazing job going over the details of what went down that day.

Seeing the places where the Sons of Liberty met. So thankful for that the buildings were preserved so we can see where history happened here in the United States.

Conclusion

Our tour ended here, but I continued enjoying the city. My husband, who was in meetings when I did this tour, was given a summary of my tour. I enjoyed walking around the city together later that evening. I learned so much, and it made me love the city of Boston even more. I enjoyed having warm clam chowder on my way back to our hotel, the DoubleTree By Hilton Hotel Boston.

If you enjoy learning about our family travels on points and miles, I would love for you to follow me on Facebook, TikTok, or YouTube to stay updated with our journey in leaving no point left behind.
