After a wonderful week on the Sky Princess, our final stop was Stavanger, Norway. I had been looking forward to this day since we booked the cruise. The excursion I booked was the first thing I booked after booking the cruise. There were several things to choose from in Stavanger. Our trip was a multi-generational trip. We had my parents in their 70s, me in my 40s, and my 17-year-old son. My goal was to find something we could all enjoy together. The boat ride I picked for us was perfect! Rodne Fjord Cruise to Lysefjord

I book shore excursions in several ways: I use the Cruise line, Viator, Shore Excursion Group, and Get Your Guide. It depends on my comfort level. If I am traveling far from the cruise port, I will book directly with the cruise line. I did this for Chichen Itza from Cozumel. However, like the Rodne Ford Boat Cruise, if it is right there and not a full day activity, I will book on my own to save money.

You can book the tour we booked via Get Your Guide or Viator

Highlights: Pulpit Rock & Hengjanefossen Waterfall

Our boat ride was a short walk on the same pier in Stavanger as the Sky Princess. Our boarding time was noon. We arrived 20 minutes early to a very long line. However, we all made it on. I was a little nervous finding seats for my parents (I thought we were early), but we did find seats for us inside. The boat ride was the highlight of our trip. Once we got sailing, we headed up to the mid deck to feel the fresh air. It was a wonderful 3.5 hour boat ride.

The boat ride took us to Pulpit Rock. You might remember it from Mission Impossible 6.

We also had a photo stop at this waterfall with goats!

Our boat ride ended at scenic Hengjanefossen waterfalls

Overall, we all loved the 3.5-hour boat ride to Lysefjord. It was beautiful seeing the Norwegian coastline from a smaller boat. The RIB boats look like so much fun, but I am glad we took the trip at a slower pace.

Shopping in Stavanger: Viking Cups & Local Finds

After we returned to Stavenger, we did some shopping, including getting a pair of earrings for Tanner’s girlfriend. This was the first port to do any shopping. We aren’t big into souvenirs, but we did pick up these cups for my dad and Tanner.
