Discover the Viking Farm Experience at Haugesand Norway

Viking Farm Haugesand Norway Cruise Port

We recently sailed the Norwegian Fjords on the Sky Princess. For our day in Haugesund, we booked an excursion with Viator to a Viking Farm. The tour started from the Cruise terminal, where we took a 5 minute walk to a boat.

We checked in at the booth and were told where to wait for our guide.

Our guide met us outside the cruise port and led us to the boat

It was about 5 - 10 minute walk to the boat

We boarded a boat for about a 30 minute ride to the Island where the reconstructed Viking Farm. The boat ride was gorgeous. We had these evalated seats so we could see everything!

Once we got to the island, we were met by a tour guide dressed as a viking. He took us on about a 30 minute guided tour through the small village. We learned Viking history and the area.

Viking Village

We were given about 30 minutes free time to explore the small village on our own

We boarded the boat back to town, and they dropped us off at the Digital Viking Museum. This was included in our ticket. I will be honest, we weren’t into the digital museum. The tour also dropped us off on the other side of the water, so we now had to get my mid-70s parents back over a huge pedestrian bridge. I tried to get an Uber for my parents, but there were none in the area. They have very limited taxis, so we started walking back very early.

Conclusion

I booked this trip based on the 0+ age. We knew my dad had Viking blood, so we wanted to experience something Viking in Norway. It was a nice day. My dad said he was glad we visited. We wish we had a little more time at the village. We did skip the digital museum. I wish I had known about the huge pedestrian bridge. That stressed me out trying to get my parents back over to the ship. However, we did it!
